Do you remember being lost as a child? Do you remember being scared of the dark, of an angry dog, of a snake, of a thunderstorm? Do you remember being too small to handle a big glass or reach the pedals of your first two-wheeler?

Many of us grew up watching Mister Rogers Neighborhood. In his cardigan and tennis shoes, Fred Rogers made the world a less scary place and helped us kids understand that we could make it someday as big people in this scary world.

He has planned this moment for weeks: reservations at her favorite restaurant, flowers and music – and the – ring. Everything goes off as planned, when she excitedly says yes. And they dance the night away. But the next morning they begin their walk together to marriage – and beyond. It will not always be magical and perfect as the evening of the proposal. There will be disappointments and arguments and hurts along the road; but if they’re willing to keep traveling together, the journey will be worth the miles.

Two psychiatrists meet for a drink after a very long, hot day. One is utterly wilted and exhausted: his hair tousled, his face drawn, his clothing rumpled. His colleague, however, is composed, smartly dressed and completely at ease.

“For heaven’s sake, Douglas,” the first psychiatrist says incredulously, “how do you do it? I’m completely done in and you look as fresh as a spring morning. How can you look so great and be so composed after listening all day to peoples’ problems, fears, anger, unhappiness and neuroses?” The second doctor smugly sips his highball and then responds, “So who listens?”

Brave is the latest film from the animation wizards at Pixar. The story takes place in medieval Scotland. Merida, the flame-haired princess tomboy, is at odds with her mother, Queen Elinor. The queen mother believes it is time to prepare her daughter for the adult responsibilities of one day becoming queen of the clan but her rebellious daughter wants no part of a planned marriage or anything that will keep her from her archery and riding her Clydesdale through the highlands.
